Okay so on May 2 I was able to participate in an event called the Solo and Ensemble Contest. This event is for all the musicians in the Sno-King region. Kids from everywhere come and perform a piece for an adjudicator, who is a professional musician, and then receive a workshop of sorts on the piece that they performed. I performed twice, both vocally and on the piano. Vocally was more just for fun. I sang in a quartet with three of my friends but it ended up being very successful. The piano performance however was a lot more heavily weighted. The song I played was called Waltz in C# minor by Frederick Chopin, and was probably the most difficult thing I have ever played. But it too was successful and I received the highest score possible. This event was very helpful to my musical career and I was able to have a fun time with it.
My piano teacher has a recording studio in his house and has a cool little website where he puts recorded songs performed by his students. I had the opportunity to record the song I played for the Solo Ensemble and he has placed it on there. If you copy the link at the bottom of the entry and place it in the URL thingy-ma-bob it will take you to where you can listen to me playing it. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and the last song on there is Waltz in C# minor by Frederick Chopin. Enjoy!!
